If your asthma causes you to have significant restriction of daily activities including your ability to work, you may be approved for disability. Social Security will evaluate the possibility of a medical vocational allowance if you are unable to meet the listing requirements. Medical vocational disability allowances consider an individual's age, education, job skills, job skill transferability, and residual functional capacity (what you are able to do in spite of your asthma) to determine if you are able to do any of the work you have performed in the past 15 years, or if you are able to do any other kind of work considering the medical vocational considerations.
