Social Security Disability, Cobra, and Medicare Eligibility
The following question was submitted recently in a comment:
"On Social Security Disability my cobra has been canceled and I am not Medicare age yet will I become eligible for Medicare?"
If you are receiving Social Security Disability benefits, you will become eligible for Medicare insurance benefits two years after the month you became entitled to your monthly disability benefits. You will be eligible for Medicare part A and B, as well as, part C and D at that time.
Medicare part A is free, while part B, C, and D are pay insurance coverage.
Medicare coverage can be difficult to understand, if you do not understand your Medicare benefits call 1-800-Medicare. They can provide assistance or refer you to other agencies that can help you chose the right Medicare coverage for you.
