What do they ask in a SSDI interview? When preparing for your SSDI interview, you should have information about your medical conditions. You should also be able to provide the names of your treating doctors, along with their addresses, and phone number if possible. Social Security does not require that you provide each individual doctor but they would like the name of the practice or hospital. You will also need information about the testing you have completed and the medications you are currently taking. You will not be asked about only your disabling conditions. You will have to be prepared to provide information about the types of jobs you have performed in the 15 year previous to your becoming disabled. This would include how many hours you worked, your pay, the job you performed, and how long you performed the job. If you only had one job, you will have to describe that job during the interview. Additionally, you will have to give personal information about yourself. Marital information will be needed for both SSI and SSDI. If you are applying for SSI, you will have to provide information about your income and resources. These will be basic questions, but be prepared to give information about vehicles, land, life insurance, pensions, earnings, etc. About the Author: Tim Moore is a former Social Security Disability Examiner in North Carolina, has been interviewed by the NY Times and the LA Times on the disability system, and is an Accredited Disability Representative (ADR) in North Carolina.
